I think social media appeals to people because it is quick, and would certainly appeal to people with ADD and OCD. Even though I like social media, I also think it adds to our feelings of ADD, trying to keep up with so many short, choppy conversations. Interesting article.

Hey this was… umm what was it I was going to say. I love jellybeans, oh, no it was that I wonder where I fit on this… I think I'm going to have fish tonight for diner. Oh crap, my point was serious social media is killing my attention span!

Seriously though, um, it is effective communication when done right. What is the key to any marketing campaign? Know your audience! So if they are ADD you better start tweeting short and sweet messages that smack the reader across the head and grabs their short little attention span. Ah, what else, oh yeah then drive them to your web site make and offer and use a power call to action before they leave!

Power to the ADD/OCD people!

Toby, I am with you on that - the fact is - the technology makes us more productive and tasks less tedious so the attention span thing doesn't bother me much. I mean, consider that back in the 1800s if you didn't pay close enough attention to your task at a textile mill, you lost appendages! I'm guessing when the immediate danger left a task, the attention you paid to it decreased.
