Twitter & Music Marketing

Twitter background | Selby

Day 3 of Digital Marketing for Selby. I almost took a screenshot of the old twitter page, but thought better of it because it really just did not represent them well. The page was, simply put, stale. And like I’ve said before, Selby is many things but STALE ain’t one of them!!! This is a baby band on the verge of breaking big time, with a hypnotizing  stage presence and their Twitter page needed to not only convey energy and rock royalty but also pimp their upcoming appearances. And this is where band and music marketing is different from mainstream corporate and brand marketing. We need to keep the Twitter background fresh and updated with the upcoming events. Their content needs to be edgy, relevant and personal. We’ve come up with a Twitter background that represents their musical identity and now they are working on providing the “right” kind of content. A little coaching and a lot of dedication and they will have a Twitter page that crushes it.

A Money FB Page

Posted by admin On October - 15 - 2009

Selby’s Facebook Fan Page Goes from Blah to “Money” Overnight.

Bahnz SelbyFacebook fan pages are great resources for celebrities, companies and brands to drive new customers and notify existing customers and fans of what’s happening with the company, brand, or celebrity. But, in the case of most fan pages, they are just LAME and nothing more than a wall of thoughts collected in one spot. They don’t do much to excite potential fans to join the page. That’s where custom fan pages come into play. One of the best ways to really engage new potential fans, is to create a welcome or landing page that calls them to action. In the case of Sleby, we took their slightly stale fan page and made it money with a look and feel that represents them well. Drawing inspiration from Old Hollywood, the movie Swingers and David Bowie, we pulled together a look that resonates with fans and offers content that will engage them in the band, the music, their other social profiles and their websites. Selby

Selby

Since a lot of up and coming bands and artists are following this blog, I thought it would be fun to chronicle a marketing, social networking and public relations campaign with a band getting a lot of industry buzz right now, Selby.

Brand, album and music marketing should not be a mystery to artists. They should be deeply involved in the process of marketing their music and brand to their fan base, so in an effort to be completely transparent, Selby, an up and coming band from Orlando, has agreed to let me share the secrets of how we market their brand. Our efforts include everything from online marketing, social networking, viral marketing, principle photography, set selection and fan engagement. Learn some of the industry secrets to strategically marketing music and a band brand for success.

Selby is not only currently working on a new album in the studio but also in the midst of a mad dash countdown to Oct 23 when they will be opening for Ryan Cabrerra at Club Firestone. The challenge is that at present, Selby’s online presence is a little stale. And, if you’ve ever had a chance to meet Selby front man, Bahnz Selby, you immediately know Selby is ANYTHING but STALE! The band exudes a “cool, comfortable energy” and their music just makes you want to sway and most importantly, Selby is willing to engage with fans online. Bahnz always makes sure to comment and connect with fans through his Facebook and MySpace profiles so this collaboration is a natural fit! Sacrilicious is working with Selby and their team, including Annie Robinson to create the right personal branding and messaging to push their online identity and fan engagement to the next level authentically both on and offline.
